In early January 2025, my friend Amy and I started the group Walk Every Street PG. Our goal was to create community while walking every block of every public street in Pacific Grove. I’m elated to share that we met our goal in July 2025. We walked approximately 90 miles over 25 weeks, averaging a weekly group size of 20-25 walkers (with weekly groups as large as 50 walkers).

More than accomplishing this goal, we had great conversations and made connections along the way. We held monthly post-walk socials at local PG businesses. Neighbors set up tables with snacks and beverages for us. We were featured in the Monterey County Weekly. A book club was started. People formed friendships and went to dinner together. We even hopscotched through one walk! And at the end of it, Amy and I were honored by Mayor Nick Smith with a certificate of recognition at a PG City Council Meeting. This simple idea I had to walk every street (I’ve now walk every street 4x!) that Amy brought to reality with me by creating this group - became so much bigger than we ever could have imagined.

Because we’ve enjoyed it so much, we’re restarting the walks! Please join us every Wednesday, starting on September 3, 2025 at 4:00 PM for Walk Every Street PG 2.0. While the routes will stay much the same, we will bring name tags, icebreaker questions, and fun facts of PG to share with you. We invite all friendly adults, supervised kids, and leashed pets to join us. And if you miss some weeks, that’s okay! Join when you can. Follow us on Instagram (@walkeverystreetpg) for our weekly meet-up locations and routes.

Thank you for reading!
